Results happen with a good team and our suspension

So here it is.

Many of our sponsors always produce good results for us, most times with very high performance FR or AWD setups. But these guys here Second Glance Media have taken it a step in the harder direction. These guys have consistently been running strong with their FF racecars.

They have two cars that have been setup for racing. A DC5 that’s a fully built racecar and then there is the New 08 Honda Civic SI. This civic is the new Flagship FF from Honda, and apparently with our suspension and "Kensai Racing" to back it up it can be very competitive. They entered a time-attack that was held in Mosport international raceway and ended up placing 4th in their class....WHAT!!!.. is fourth not good enough for you guys? Well here is the little catch. The Civic was not supposed to compete in this event, the DC5 was, but for some reason the DC5 started acting up, so without any practice session or any dialing in of the car, they threw the FG2 onto the track.

I don't know about you but 4th without any setting up seems awesome to me.

JIC's New EVOX Build

It has been decided! The new timeattack platform is.................The EVOX

This is our first AWD timeattack machine. We obviously have many plans and options for this build, but one thing is for sure, JIC coilovers. We already have put in a lot of research and development into the coilovers for the picky EVOX owners. And there are many successful racers already using our coilovers for this car.

We got the car not too long ago but we have immediately started working on this beast.
Step #1 Gut the Mutha,
Stripping this car of it's parts like this pains me, but to build this track monster it's gotta be done. Timeattack is becoming so competitive lately, we need to squeeze every bit of performance out of this vehicle, and of course we are going to have to start with the one thing we know best, the chassis.
Well gotta go, it's time to go dip the car in a pool of acid.

Fresssh off the boat is our new suspension solution for the Honda Accord. From JDM-land, our FLT-TAR System for the UC1, otherwise known as the 7th generation Honda Accord. Its brand spanking new to the USA and noone has a set yet so call your local dealers to be the first and lucky few to have the FLT-TAR System for their Accord. Also available in very limited quanitities left is the 6th Generation Accord Suspension, the FLT-TAR for the CG.

The Marketing guy here had a CG2 so hes got a real soft spot for the accord and had to put this up for your viewing pleasure.

JIC GTR suspension upgrade kit

We will be testing our new GT-R Suspension Upgrade Kit on December 13th at Willow Springs Raceway. Our kit will allow the end user to keep their specially designed Ohlins dampers. This means the driver will not loose the function of comfort mode or the ferocious "R" mode. We supply front and rear helper springs which keep the main springs in line and ready to react. We will release final spring rates after testing. Check back in with us after testing to view results.

This vehicle specifically designed for the Time attack circuit is tuned to a bit above 400hp on a light weight platform. This vehicle was build completely in house here in our facility in Downey CA. We are proud to add this vehicle to the line-up of all our purpose built race cars. We will be updating you on the progress we make as we test this coming weekend at Button Willow.

We have been fortunate enough to acquire a new Mitsubishi Evolution X MR. Initially our goals were to present the vehicle as a display car, but the itch to see what we could build out of it overwhelmed us. So on a bright and beautiful Saturday morning, we let the terror begin as we pulled the majority of unnecessary luxuries that filled the interior of the soon to come beast. I hope you guys stay with us as we update you on the status the our project that is yet to be named. Please feel free to leave comments as to what you think it should be called.

Things are busy, busy here at Need for Speed central ATM... The main dev team is putting the finishing touches on the new Need for Speed Undercover game which has them EXTREMELY busy as you can imagine. The final 5% to finish a game can be pretty tough going. Over in our little Speedhunters corner of the studio, we are in our own little mini crunch too. We are now over half-way through Porsche month, and have a hell of a lot more special features to finish. Much work to do yet!

So I'm pleased to say that we have finally finished our first Porsche film for the month. We had originally planned to get on this this film sooner, but I thought it would make a better film to grab some more footage of the car at the Sears... err Infineon round of Formula D this past weekend. Always brings the quality level of a film up if you have more than 1 location to work with.

Unfortunately, it seems that all is not well in the JIC Magic camp with this lovely drifting machine; it hasn't had the best season thus far. The Porsche 993 GT2 has suffered too many reliability issues and it's been set back after set back, since that great second place result in New Jersey earlier this year.

Too bad... I feel for these guys... they have stepped away from the norm and made a really amazing car.

Well let's hope that this Porsche has some kind of future in drifting and that the bugs get sorted out. We just love this car! IMO it's one of the tidiest cars in the FD field.

Congratulations to Element Tuning

A special Congratulations goes out to Element Tuning for doing such a great job at Pocono Raceway while running JIC suspension.

Here is what Phil had to say about his experience on the NASIOC Forums...

"I set out to beat the time set by the DP car and I ran our car to the edge but I just couldn't keep the rear end hooked up as well as I needed it to be. Those cars are purpose built for racing, with tons of downforce, lots of power, and real racing slicks. I felt really comfortable however with the car and pushed it for all it was worth. I was getting so sideways trying to get on the power early that my lap times only dropped down to 55 seconds flat. After cooling the tires for a lap I had to ease into the throttle but ultimately came within 9/10ths of second to the Porsche DP car with a 54.8 second lap time."

TOUKE 8/23/08 Drift/Grip Day

Right off the bat, I'd like to thanks the organizers of TOUKE for allowing us to participate in such a great event. We were witnesses to outstanding interaction between drivers and staff members that left us astounded. Friends and families of the drivers all cheering as the vehicles flew by screaming. Let me say there were a few that far surpassed the legal DB level causing excitement amongst the attending children...

Everywhere I looked I saw tools that were being shared and help being given without it being asked for in the pit area. I’d like everyone that attended to think for a moment about the contributions they made to the Touke event and realize that those actions were that of true sportsman. Even when a bit of controversy arose, the attendees quickly found a resolution in a mature and timely fashion. What more can a participant ask for? The Touke organizers did an exceptional job and came to the event with the attitude of enthusiasts instead of employees resembling airport staff just pointing a finger in the direction you should go . They allowed drivers to get out on the field and enjoy the course from the very beginning until the final moments giving us only enough time to pack up before we get kicked out. It really gives the driver a reason to not sleep in and attend the morning meeting knowing that it was about to be on like Donky Kong.

Out on the Track

We at JIC, being enthusiasts of the car lifestyle ourselves, really wanted to get out there and play. Our small attending staff enrolled an employees personal SR powered 95 240sx for some time on the drift track with a dabble in the grip event. The course itself was clean leaving us confident that we were going to have some fun. The morning portion consisted of a divided skid pad for a driver on each side to whip out the rear ends of their cars around a cone or two. A great J-turn was also formed further back to help people get the adrenaline out of their system and refresh themselves with the characteristics of their vehicles. There were even instructors for beginners to take advantage of if the participant was a first timer. A special thanks goes out to them for putting aside some of their driving time to help teach others, well done guys. After some time had passed, the course was transformed into a mid to top of 3rd gear straight, turn, feint, ebrake, wait for the transition, downshift 2nd into doughnut while clutch kicking ALOT type bonanza. Then again, you might have used the top of 2nd all the way which would give drivers a tighter line at a lower speed. I guess it just depended on the driver and the vehicle.

Lesson of the day- OFFSETS!!!

Our lightly modified, SR powered Zenki first ran 18x9 +18 in the front and a 17x9 +35 budget buy set in the rear. Why, you ask. I'll tell you why. Because the sales people in the industry don't get paid as much as most would think. We're right there next to most other enthusiast as far as how many dollars are in our pocket.

"Can I order a number one please?"

"Would you like that super sized?"

"Let me check my bank account real quick"

I digress... So like i was saying, we took along a couple sets of wheel and tire combos for the rear. One set was to be used for the grip event and the other for drifting. It was no big deal. Everyone rocks mismatched rims and tires front to back. We're just here to have some fun anyways not win a car show. That's on another day. In the beginning runs, the vehicle just wouldn't maintain the angle we wanted to achieve. Not only that, but trying to transition, too, became a challenge that frustrated us. That’s what we get for forgetting the wheel spacers in the other car. We pulled out our back up pair of J Force 05’s in 17x9 +15 for the rear that originally was intended for use in the grip portions of the day and slapped those puppies on.

The difference was felt immediately. The car was wonderful after that thanks to the measurements of the wheel we had changed to. The cars responded to every command giving our driver more confidence which then lead him to a great display around the doughnut before ending the day.

GRIP.

JIC, who pride themselves in being time attach specialists, love track events that allow us to explore the limitations of grip. We were actually very lucky to run two cars for a while. Our fearless leader here at JIC, Jon, brought out his beautiful lightly tuned 997 Turbo Porsche sporting our CROSS Suspension Project coilovers, CROSS Stella Marvelous 05’s, and CROSS full Titanium exhaust.

The course chosen by Touke was a very complex one with many elevation changes testing our control, braking and response with every steep downhill straights only to lead us into tight left hand hairpins. The Porsche, being built for a bit more high speed challenges, was still fully capable of barreling though with much grace on a track that seemed to favor the sport compact grid. The Porsche Caymans, FD's, and inspiring AW11's (That's an school MR2 people) that joined the event were probably a bit more in their element in this Touge-esk inspired layout. Our S14, as well, felt at home on this simulated canyon course. Being out there really was just so much fun. We express thanks to the grip drivers that fully displayed professionalism when on and off the track. It really helped the event move smoothly when it came to entering and exiting the course The Touke grip staff extended such a warm welcome to us that we hope to attend future events they plan to hold.
